Why You Feel Like You Can't Fully Switch Off

You’re capable, dependable, and good at what you do. You meet deadlines, solve problems, and keep things moving, often without anyone realising how much you're carrying.

Over time, your nervous system can become used to being in "go mode". It learns to stay alert, focused, and ready for the next thing. That can be helpful during a busy day, but when your body gets stuck in that pattern, switching off doesn't come as easily.

That's why you can feel exhausted but still struggle to relax. Your mind keeps planning, your body stays slightly tense, and rest never feels quite complete.

Yoga helps by giving your nervous system regular opportunities to practise something different. Slow movement, mindful breathing, and moments of stillness send signals to your body that it is safe to soften and let go of some of that constant alertness. Over time, this can help you feel calmer, sleep better, and find it easier to switch off at the end of the day.

You don't need to lose your ambition or drive. You simply need to give your nervous system the chance to remember how to slow down.
